Regular readers will most likely remember our feature on Chris Godding’s Beetle a while back, running his own brand of custom Dogtown Wheels – three-piece split rims that he has machined out of solid billet alloy.

When Chris first bought that Beetle, he’d actually been looking for a Karmann Ghia to build, so the next logical step after the Beetle was finished was to scratch the Ghia itch.

If we were still living in the 1990s, this car would almost certainly have ended up as a German Looker, or at least being referred to as one. After all, most of the components used are similar, with the exception of the heavily narrowed front end.
