The Last Of Us Part II Remastered

Bigger part, meet bigger parcel

Humorously, The Last Of Us is now a series with more rereleases than actual games, the PS3 original having been remastered for PS4 and remade for PS5 (plus it was recently adapted for TV), and the sequel now having a remaster of its own. But better than ever, packed with extra features, and upgradable for about a tenner, TLOU2 is worth the refresh.

The technical improvements you’d expect from a move from PS4 to PS5 are here, but as the game was already pushing the last-gen hardware to its limit it’s definitely a case of diminishing returns. If you’ve got a VRR TV you can enjoy an unlocked framerate, fidelity mode offers native 4K, and performance mode can achieve an upscaled 4K. Textures have been improved, and with more detail at a greater distance as well. DualSense support makes the intense guerrilla-style third-person combat even snappier.

PARTY EVERY DAY

To be honest, as the original still feels incredibly impressive, this new-gen-native remaster isn’t quite enough of a leap forward to hook me into a full replay. I dip in and out and marvel at the improvements made
