UK warns world must act to stop 'humanitarian catastrophe' in Ethiopia hit by war, climate change and hunger

Britain warned on Tuesday that the world must act now to stop a “humanitarian catastrophe” in Ethiopia being blighted by war, climate change and hunger.

Africa minister Andrew Mitchell issued the call to the international community after a two-day visit to the crisis-hit country.

“We have an opportunity to stop a looming humanitarian catastrophe in its tracks. But we must act and act now,” he said.

Millions of people across northern Ethiopia are facing hunger, he highlighted, with war and and driving people off their lands.
