In December 2018, we had spent one night at Bellingham Camping and Caravanning Club site on our way to Kielder Water and found it so peaceful that we wished wed booked to stay longer. So, a few years later, we had no hesitation in signing up for a weekend meet there with other WildAx owners. It was a spring equinox event: a Star Camp with two nights led by an astronomer. During the day we would have a chance to explore the characterful village, set on the verdant banks of the River North Tyne.
From Scotland we climbed through the Cheviots on the A68 then followed the recommended route in the pre-arrival guide we'd received with our booking, crossing wide, empty moorland via a B-road.
The campsite franchisees, who were the same couple that we'd met previously, gave us a warm welcome. They organise several different events through the year, based on the campsite.
