Work deadlines, school runs, after-school activities and children’s parties… each year our busy family life seems to get more hectic. For us, the antidote is to throw some sleeping bags in a campervan and head to the Scottish wilderness for a slower pace, fresh, clean air and empty expanses of land packed with wildlife and few people. This time, for the October school holidays, we were heading to the most westerly point on the UK mainland – the Ardnamurchan peninsula.
Accessed only by a windy single-track road, the area came to fame recently when TV series Eden (a modern take on television’s first reality show Castaway) was filmed on one of the beautiful white sandy beaches.
