DOGS turning on their owners have come under the spotlight after a recent spike in the number of cases with serious injuries being reported.
In Chatsworth last week, Timel Moonsamy, 11, sustained injuries to her hand after the family’s two-year-old dog Rusty turned on her.
Her mother, Melissa Hammond, 31, was leaving the yard and Timel was holding Rusty when he attacked her.
Hammond said the dog suddenly became enraged, which was not his usual behaviour, and grabbed and bit Timel’s hand.
