SIR ERNEST HENRY SHACKLETON 1874–1922

orn in Country Kildare, Ireland, Shackleton is one of the British Isles' most famous polar explorers. Having left school at expedition of 1914-1917. When the ship became stranded off Elephant Island, he managed to lead a rescue mission saving all 28 men on board. As well as his Antarctic expeditions, Shackleton also visited North America, South America and Europe on lecture circuits.
