THE ANGLERS COMPETING in the 2024 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Classic presented by Jockey Outdoors may be the most diverse group of individuals to ever vie for a world championship trophy. They include fishermen who have run the gauntlet of the Elite Series, the Bassmaster Opens, the B.A.S.S. Nation and the Bassmaster College Series.
Along with a large contingent of dark horses, the field boasts some of the most accomplished anglers to ever wield a fishing rod. Part of the Classic’s intrigue is that any one of them could be hoisting the winner’s trophy under a shower of confetti on bass fishing’s biggest stage.
Although spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and jigs have dominated previous springtime Classics on Grand Lake, other lures and tactics could win the day. Those who have mastered forward-facing sonar may find suspended bass offshore that are willing to bite. And, you can’t count out anglers who excel with finesse tactics or large swimbaits.
