First Look: The Ultra QUEST

EVER SINCE HE came to America in 2010, Carl Jocumsen has garnered much attention. A fierce competitor and the first Australian to win a Bassmaster Elite Series event (Lake Tenkiller, 2019), he’s rightfully made his presence known.

Good for his career, but attracting attention is the exact opposite of his shallow-water game plan. And that defines his appreciation for the new Minn Kota Ultrex QUEST.

“It’s the best trolling motor I’ve ever used in my life,” Jocumsen firmly stated. “There are pretty much two things [I like most], and the first one is how quiet this motor is. Trolling motor noise can be one of the biggest killers of the bite. That brushless technology has improved my fishing tenfold by being stealthy.”

Noting that he first ran the new Ultrex QUEST in the 2023 Elite Series event at the Sabine River, Jocumsen said he’s anticipating the stealth advantage will play a key role in next year’s spawn-centric events. This year, he found the ultra-quiet operation impactful during the Northern swing.
