LOTS TO LIKE IN LEICESTER

As for the museum itself, while the beam engines are the main focal point, there are a number of other areas well worth a look. Originally, the museum focussed on water and sewage, but now has developed into attraction that displays many items that relate to Leicester itself. These include displays of old film projection equipment as well as a collection of locally-made Imperial typewriters, an early industrial knitting machine and other domestic appliances.

There is also an interesting transport collection housed on site, which is displayed at some of the steaming events that the museum has during the year. Included here were a couple of steam rollers, the first dating from 1894. This is No. 3319, an Aveling
