Great artists talk about their past recordings

MY FINEST MOMENT

Handel Arias

Magdalena Kožená (mezzo-soprano); Venice Baroque Orchestra/Andrea Marcon Archiv Produktion 477 6717 (2007)

This recording of Handel’s arias from different operas was a beautful first meeting with this orchestra and this conductor, with whom I now have a long-term partnership. Andrea and I we were both DG artists and in those days the company liked to put its artists together forAndrea for the first time just a few weeks before, at the harpsichord. Then I went to this amazing mountain location with a beautiful hall, and we were basically exploring while recording. What was surprisingly beautiful was that we somehow understood each other from the first moment, musically and personally. I think it was one of the strongest recordings, maybe just because it was done in the moment, without thinking.
