There’s nothing unusual about a 13-year-old boy going to see his mother in the middle of the night. He could have had a nightmare or something had woken him that had frightened him. Not Derek Rosa. When he approached his mother’s bedside in October 2023, his newborn sister lying peacefully in her cot just inches away, he had one thing on his mind – murder. He stabbed his mum Irina, 39, to death in a frenzied attack at their home in Florida. Afterwards, Rosa called the police and admitted to slaying his mum with a pink-handled kitchen knife. He’s now been charged with murder and is being tried as an looks back at some of Britain’s most infamous parricide killers and reveals what happened next.
