Hearing my alarm buzz at 7am in August 2018, it was time to go.
I was off on holiday with my parents Susan, 63, and John, 69, my three children – Molly, then 13, Jessica, then 11, and Jackson, then eight – and our family friends Barry, 58, his wife Louise, 54, their daughters, Olivia, 18, and Rachel, 36, and their granddaughter Daisy, six.
We were headed to the 5* Steigenberger Aqua Magic Hotel in Hurghada in Egypt.
Having already been in April that year, Mum and Dad had been very impressed with the hotel – so much so, we were heading back as a family.
Tucking into a fry up at Manchester airport, jetting off on holiday was one of our many family traditions.
Despite being in his late sixties, Dad was still working as a builder and showed no signs of slowing down.gym three times a week.
