SHE lies on the operating table waiting for doctors to perform the C-section that will allow her to see the baby she’s been longing to meet.
But there’s also a deep poignancy to the delivery that everyone is keenly aware of – while new life is about to burst into the room, death lurks there too.
Lying next to Claudia Swanepoel and holding her hand is her husband, Johan (32). His body is so riddled with cancer he can’t sit up or stand, yet doctors have gone out of their way to make him part of the birth.
