It doesn’t matter how kookily Johnny Depp played him in 2005’s , and the appealing winsomeness of Timothée Chalamet as the young Willy in this prequel isn’t enough. The man we met in 1971’s is the GOAT. The very idea that someone could top Gene’s genie is almost insulting.
