It was a story that made headlines across the UK and has been dubbed the largest miscarriage of justice in British history. Between 1999 and 2015, more than 700 ordinary, innocent people working for the Post Office were wrongly prosecuted for theft, fraud and false accounting and some were imprisoned. But it was later revealed they were victims of a computer error – a new system brought in called Horizon producing ‘flawed’ information about their accounting. Now, the scandal has been turned into an ITV drama, Mr Bates vs The Post Office starring Toby Jones and Monica Dolan.
