Morocco’s ground-breaking march to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar this time last year makes them the favourites for success at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in the Ivory Coast, even if the North African country has a spotty record at the continental championship.
Morocco became the first African and Arab nation to go as far as the final four of a World Cup in a major fillip for the African game and have since beaten Brazil, albeit in a friendly international at home, to further enhance their credentials.
Yet this will not be the first time that Morocco have arrived at a Cup of Nations finals in sparkling form and hotly tipped for success.
