Microsoft’s affordable Surface laptop has entered its third generation. And while little has changed from its predecessor the Laptop Go 2, the Go 3 is a very different machine.

Both configurations use the same low-voltage 12th-gen Intel Core i5-1235U processor rather than the most recent version; but Microsoft has nixed the low-spec options that were impossible to recommend, so the price now starts at £799 for 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The one I’m reviewing
