THIS MONTH, WE’VE TAKEN BIKES representing the main trends in the broad ‘road’ bike sphere for the coming year, making it harder than usual to make direct comparisons between them, so it’s been more about appreciating the bikes’ merits and advances within their own spheres.

The Yamaha Wabash RT takes onto a great ride position and capable geometry plus a superb motor. It’s impressively powerful and the assistance is delivered in a natural-feeling way, making the motor stand out from its competitors. The bike is let down by some control quirks and a frame and fork that are plainly overbuilt for bicycles, but what would you expect from a motocross bike maker? As a statement of intent, however, the RT shows huge potential for future models.
