FIVE men charged with public violence relating to the July 2021 unrest in Phoenix have been acquitted after it was found that they were “acting in self-defence” and in “defence of their property”.
The court further acknowledged that the assembly of people during that period was for lawful purposes to protect their neighbourhoods and not to disturb the public peace, and it found the State witnesses to be unsatisfactory.
