A voice very familiar to racegoers, armchair enthusiasts and even those who enjoy the online motorsport competitions, David Addison spends his year crossing the globe to attend some of the finest battles of the season.
Here, he rounds up his highlights of the year just gone. From pounding the carpets at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham to chasing GT cars around the Middle East, the Radio 4-listening Alfa-holic has taken in a lot in the last 12 months.

And, in this modern digital age, it is a pleasure to bring you this in print… I have been in America for just under three hours and am sat at Volusia Speedway Park. Make that ‘on’ Volusia Speedway Park as the grandstand, rickety as it is, is as close to the track as it can be.
Tonight’s night, part of a two-week festival of racing at the Florida track, consists of USAC Wingless Sprint Cars along with DIRTcar Late Models, odd-looking roofed beasts that sound amazing. Volusia, next to a lake of alligators, is a superb place and fans get a
