Whether you're buying your first 'van or an experienced motorhomer, buying a new model should never be taken lightly. There are a lot of things to consider, so here are the top eight questions you should ask yourself, or a dealer, before taking the plunge and handing over your hard-earned cash.

1 WHAT CAN I AFFORD?

We can't ignore the elephant in the room – prices of new and used motorhomes have shot up in recent years. If you've got a motorhome to trade in, then the pain of these price increases will be lessened as the value of your 'van will also have increased. But make sure you shop around to maximise your trade-in value, as the cost to change to a newer model is likely to be greater, too.

If you haven't got a motorhome to trade in, then you must factor in the recent price increases and the fact that they may increase further. The cost to borrow is also now higher, so consider using savings if you have them, to pay for some or all of your new 'van. But remember that if you buy using a loan or on a credit card, you will get an additional level
