I WAS born in India, where my father was a leading amateur jockey, but I grew up in Dorset. I can't remember learning to ride, but my mother taught me - she was a beautiful horsewoman. She'd pedal around the lanes while I bounced along next to her on my little Dartmoor pony, Lady Kate.
