FOR EDITH REWA AND DYLAN BARFIELD, no stint in Brisbane would be complete without calling a Queenslander home. “My first impressions of this house were of light, space, sunshine and just the feeling of the place,” says Edith. “I could imagine us living here straightaway.” Built in 1910, this traditional Queensland house, which the pair found on Gumtree, had all its original features – untouched bathroom tiles, classic window-seat alcove, lounge archway and decorative ceiling mouldings.

Their new home was a far cry from the couple’s previous dwelling – a rental flat
