There is the clean-lined wooden façade, the sliding shutters, the friendly staff and the near-constant aroma of coffee. Allpress Espresso’s Tokyo Roastery and Café, housed in a former timber warehouse, has become something of a landmark since opening its doors in the city’s low-key Kiyosumi-Shirakawa neighbourhood in August 2014.
A constant stream of customers passes through the doors. They’re there to either drink coffee in the frontside café or undergo training next to the roaster behind a double-height wall of glass.
