Relaxing walks in wonderful scenery
‘Walking through the pines, you emerge onto an expanse of sand that stretches for miles’
Keen to escape the bustle of daily life for a few days in the early summer, we chanced upon the peace and quiet of Norfolk, with its famous Broads (where speed really is the last thing on anyone’s mind) and miles of golden sand just made for old-fashioned seaside fun.
Add pretty villages to explore and miles of footpaths for hikers and ramblers, and for those who, like me these days, prefer a gentler stroll, and you have the perfect touring destination.
Choosing a campsite
For this trip, we based ourselves at the pop-up campsite run by the Caravan and Motorhome Club in the glorious grounds of Holkham Hall – but there is an abundance of choice when it comes to touring sites in Norfolk.
You could opt for one of the Club sites, perhaps The Camping and Caravanning Club’s West Runton Site, or Seacroft CAMC Site, both near the popular coastal resort of Cromer. Alternatively, for a lively family holiday with plenty of activities and great entertainment, there’s the Parkdean Resorts Vauxhall Holiday Park in Great Yarmouth.
