ASYMMETRICAL ALTERATIONS Part Two: Lower Torso Adjustments

Lower torso styling guidelines

Overall, the ease of pattern alteration, the camouflaging ability of the style, and the capacity to enhance figure assets is most important. Imbalanced figures benefit from garment separates (two-piece outfits) rather than continuous lengths such as dresses. This gives greater latitude in alteration ability and has stronger camouflaging power. It is recommended upper torso garments extend over the waistline areas to balance symmetry and hide asymmetrical garment alterations. See photo 1.

Since most asymmetrical figures vary dramatically and fashion is constantly changing, standard design ‘features’ appropriate for most asymmetrical alterations are listed.
