Total 911: Ollie, Chris, thanks for joining us. Please do tell us about yourselves: how did you get into the Porsche industry?
Ollie Barclay: I started when I was 18 years old and now I’m 25. I started off working at a different Porsche specialist and did my apprenticeship with them. Since then, I’ve been at Philip Raby, focusing on starting up a service centre alongside the sales.
Chris Wright: I’ve been working in the Porsche industry since 2011 and my dad has been doing it for what feels like his whole life – I’m sure he was born with a spanner in his hand. His main focus was engines and gearboxes to begin with, then racing. I actually started karting and racing when I was nine years old and I’m still involved with it now. We’re a small family business. There are only three of us and we do everything: services, repair and restoration on any type of Porsche.
Chris, with your background in mind, did you always believe you would end up working with Porsche sports cars?
Not at all – it happened more organically. I started working with my dad one day, never left, and it grew into something that I loved. I was always interested in mechanics and engineering; however, I’ve had lots of other jobs. None
