Making a statement

While some light fittings are selected for their ability to blend in, others are chosen for their impact, becoming an important element of an interior design scheme. An oversized chandelier or grand wall sconce will always create a dramatic impression, but smaller fittings, too, can make a statement, perhaps by virtue of bold colour or pattern, a strong shape or the use of an opulent or unusual material. Of course, even statement lighting must serve a practical function, whether for reading or getting dressed.
