NEWS REPORT

The CTA had a very well attended and successful Fall Convention held at the Fin, Fur and Feather Club in Chaplin on Saturday October 7th 2023. The “Fin” prepared breakfast and lunch, paid for by the CTA and available to all in attendance.

The business meeting started at 9:00 a.m. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and approved. President Fred Becker presented the following awards; The CTA David Ridzon Youth Trapper of the Year 2023 award to Harrison Skinner of Tolland, the CTA Hall of Fame 2023 award to Roger Zemek of Mansfield, the CTA Trapper of the year 2023 award to John McGrath of Bridgewater, the CTA Lifetime achievement award to Bob Crook of Madison, the CTA Lifetime achievement award to former state Senator Craig Miner of Harwinton and the CTA certificate of recognition and an honorary CTA Lifetime membership to state Representative Doug Dubitsky of Chaplin. Former Senator Miner and Representative Dubinsky gave brief dissertations concerning the CTA and the Connecticut state Legislature.

Nominating Committee Chairman Scott Kneeland presented the Committee recommended slate of officers for the next two years. They were: President Fred J. Becker, Vice President West Jules Perrault, Vice President East Scott Kneeland, Secretary Beth Casanova, and Treasurer Laure Perrault. There were no nominations from the floor. President Becker asked for a voice vote and the slate as presented was elected for a two-year term.

At this point, CCAC and CTA lobbyist Julie Cammarata gave a very complete presentation concerning the Connecticut Legislature past, present and future. We have a very competent lobbyist!

President Becker then announced, that he is appointing the following 8 county directors and 2 directors at large; and asking for approval of the appointments by the CTA Executive Board. He did so and the Board approved all the appointments.
