Young Swede Oliver Solberg wowed the fans with his pace across the opening four days of this year’s Roger Albert Clark Rally as other stars, including Kris Meeke, Osian Pryce and Chris Ingram, faltered.
Solberg was heading for victory when a halfshaft failed on the second run of the Mount Common stage on Sunday evening.
Instead, Martin McCormack took over the lead going into the final day of Kielder stages with a margin of almost five minutes over the Lancia Stratos of Seb Perez, who was under attack from Cathan McCourt, while Solberg was fourth after losing at least 10 minutes.
More than ever, the 2023 edition of the Roger Albert Clark Rally captured the hearts and minds of rally fans with far more spectators than even before eager to catch a slice of relentless action.
