A DIFFERENT KIND OF SWANSONG

Colin Brookes is a man of many talents. If it’s ‘been there and done that’, he pretty much qualifies.

In March this year (2023) Colin, aged 86, was at the annual Frankton Thunder, Automotive and Community Festival in Hamilton, sitting alongside probably the most interesting exhibit in the whole event — an Austin A7 buggy powered by twin pulse-jet engines.

Among all the glittering, supercharged, turbo-shifted machinery, Colin’s seemingly Heath Robinson homebuilt was a magnet for anyone who had half a clue about what they were looking at.
