I GREW up in my grandparents’ home and I vividly remember how, while getting my hair done for school, I’d pick up a copy of YOU to keep me company. Chuckles and the Stargaze pages were my favourites.
Of course, like many teenage girls, the walls of my room were filled with posters found in the centrefold of the magazine each week.
As the years passed I grew to love YOU more with every read – the heart-rending, fascinating and sometimes wacky stories inspired, enthralled and entertained me.
When I started here as a journalist in 2014 and later moved on to be a news editor, I never imagined that a young girl from Buffalo Flats in East London would one day sit in the editor’s chair.
YOU has been in my blood for a long time and I’m honoured to be working with such an amazing team.
