Gino soars to the top spot with his ‘big aeroplane stride’

NORTHCOTE STUD WINTER CLASSIC

2-5 November

Northcote Stud Winter Classic, Lancs

SANDY MCLEAN added not only another grand prix win to his tally with his brilliant partner Gino F but made it a one-two when he piloted Zoey 12 to the runner-up spot.

Sandy and Gino commanded the jump-off from the front, executing a daring turn to a vertical at the third fence that boosted them into an unassailable lead.

Four horses later, the 21-year-old Scottish rider slotted into second on Holly Williams’ 12-year-old mare, whom he has been riding since July, but still only came within 1.49sec of his own target.
