Czech composer Bedřich Smetana has been regarded in and for the symphonic cycle (‘My Fatherland’), which portrays the history, legends and landscape of the composer’s native Bohemia. It contains the famous symphonic poem ‘Vltava’, also popularly known by its German name ‘Die Moldau’ (in English, ‘The Moldau’). Smetana also composed a significant amount of piano music, including two volumes of, which date from 1849-50. This enchanting waltz-like piece is No 2 from the second volume.
