The HOT LiST

It’s our last Hot List of 2023, and what a year it’s been for new music. Across the board we’ve seen quality stuff, with rising stars and up-and-coming groups often giving music’s veteran big cheeses a serious run for their money – as they should do. Seldom has the rock landscape been so fruitful, for those inclined to listen.

As we start to reflect on the sounds that have lingered on our playlists since January, we come bearing one last selection of box-fresh tunes from rock’n’roll’s rich spectrum. There’s AC/DC-esque riffage, hooky 90s energy, British southern rock, gorgeous pop-rock balladry, glam synths with a dystopian bent, and (in one case) sexy
