“THERE ARE ONLY two ways to do a Christmas song,” Sonny Landreth says. “One is to go all-in on a cliché standard; the other is to come up with something totally off the wall.” For those looking for the latter, Landreth’s “Under My Tree” is a fabulous option. It’s from a groovy 2004 compilation album called Christmas Gumbo, and I happened to witness some of the sessions.
