“Was it worth the money? Yes and no. I like the new bits, but after a week on iPhone 15, I am underwhelmed”

It was the siren call of the USB-C plug that did it. My trusty iPhone 13 Pro Max has been replaced by a new 15 Pro Max, but I sit here somewhat underwhelmed. Maybe it was the lure of New Shiny that clouded my judgement, or the thought that the USB-C port would be so much better than the older Lightning port. That’s despite me finding the older port to be perfectly useful in day-today operation.

There are things I like, including the new camera technology. I’m intrigued by the multi-prismatic lens, while the ability to record in stereo depth using the two lenses side by side in portrait mode is fascinating to a nerd like me. This will come into its own next year when the Vision Pro arrives.

The revised notch at the top? Fun, but frivolous. The always-on screen seems a good idea, but it tempts me to check for status updates more frequently than before, and that isn’t particularly healthy.

I went for the 1TB version as with my 13 Max Pro, because I like to carry around a whole bunch of TV and films on my phone. Stuck in an airport lounge? Fire up an episode of The West Wing. Arrive at a Travelodge or Premier Inn and discover the 4G signal is a bit £$&*@£? A dollop of Prime Suspect always helps.

In true Jon style, of course, I have taken this to extremes. I am currently holding 528GB of material listed as “TV” on the phone. Next is “Photos” at 166GB. With everything else on there, I have consumed 861GB of the available storage, so I should probably have a good talking to myself. Do I really need all the
