Eight Bells: Bill Pinkney

ill Pinkney, whose irrepressible determination and willingness to follow a dream of adventure helped him in 1992 become the first Black sailor to solo circumnavigate 32,000 miles via the five great capes, died unexpectedly on August 31, 2023. He was 87.
