Season gets off to a classic start

CANARIES

HERE we go! After all the hard work and effort put in during these past few months, the show season 2023 is well underway. As is now traditional with the Fifes, the season got underway with the National Exhibition at Stafford, this year on Sunday October 1.

I entered 12 birds, which were competing against a total of nearly 700 from fancierspleasantly surprised when my HV cinnamon buff hen won best champion cinnamon and best cinnamon in show. This hen was bred out of the green buff hen that was best champion green at the Midlands last year when paired to a HV yellow green cock from Ryan Wood. I got another couple of cards in the classes – but it’s early days yet.
