> Ignore any permission problems

I moved my image library and documents to my new Mac on an external drive, but when I try to use them I seem to hit permission problems. Why, and what can I do about it?

When inspecting permissions in the Finder’s Get Info dialog, each item has an owner and group, with their set permissions, and for allup with user numbers that differ from those in that Mac. If a file is then owned by user 505, but there’s no user with that number, that can throw the permissions system.
