Commentary: Bombings in Gaza add to generations of Palestinians displaced from their homes

An estimated 1.4 million Palestinians have been displaced from their homes since the Israeli military began bombing the Gaza Strip on Oct. 8, in retaliation for a surprise attack by Hamas militants. On Tuesday an Israeli strike hit the densely populated Jabaliya refugee camp in North Gaza, leaving many casualties.

Many Palestinian refugees have sought refuge in United Nations emergency shelters in a situation the World Health Organization has described as “catastrophic.” Lacking adequate access to water, food, electricity and other critical supplies, humanitarian agencies are deeply concerned and fear a total breakdown in.
