‘It Felt Empowering’

She’s starred alongside some of Hollywood’s best actors, but having spent the last few years writing and directing her first feature film, 2022’s Emily, Frances O’Connor was itching to get back on screen. “It’s really kind of fun to step back in front of the camera,” she tells WHO of her one-episode stint in SBS’s new anthology series, Erotic Stories.

The Golden Globe nominee, 56, stars as Annabel, a successful woman in her fifties who has an encounter with her much younger colleague, Florian (played by Alex FitzAlan), resulting in an unexpectedly liberating sexual exploration. “It felt very empowering,” she says of the role.

Set to star in the second season of The Twelve alongside Sam Neill next year and teasing more new projects Down Under, O’Connor won’t be disappearing from our screens again anytime soon.
