HAFF measures won't fix crisis

The Albanese government, in August, finally got its Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) legislation through parliament after agreeing to the extra funding demanded by the Greens. But as worthwhile as the legislation appears on the surface, its impact on Australia's so-called housing supply crisis will be negligible.

Sure, the aspiration for the HAFF to help fund construction of 30,000 new social and affordable homes over the next five years sounds impressive. Until you realisethrough the five years ending June 2022, almost one million new homes were built in Australia.
