Over the past decade, a net estimate of nearly 150,000 people relocated to Queensland from interstate, representing 18 per cent of Queensland’s population growth.
The Queensland government estimated in 2018 that the state population will reach 7.1 million by 2041, an increase of 2 million since June 2019. However, this did not take into account the effects of the pandemic on migration.
