Selling your home amid interest rate hikes

Financial stress is pushing more homeowners to sell their properties, inundating the market with stock and giving would-be homebuyers more choice than before.

South Africans, hit with a triple blow of hard knocks with rising interest rates, petrol prices and till slips, have been in the buyer’s cycle for almost a year.

And, says Darren Francis, a property entrepreneur and former Investor of the Year winner at the SA Property Investors Network, figures suggest we might see another interest rate hike “and this will certainly be in the buyer’s favour”.
