In the world of automotive enthusiasts, some journeys are more epic than others. Marcus and Amanda Heke, both proud Kiwi and devoted petrolheads, embarked on a remarkable adventure that would make any car enthusiast green with envy. They didn’t just drive their beloved modified BMW M2 in Europe; they shipped it all the way from New Zealand to the Old Continent to do so.
The journey began in the United Kingdom — after closing the doors on the container in New Zealand — where Marcus eagerly picked up his prized BMW M2. There was just one hiccup – the car’s battery had gone completely flat during its long sea voyage across the ocean. Without missing a beat, Marcus managed to locate a replacement battery and set off on his European odyssey. Marcus’ M2 was built to take this journey head on, with some upgrades to complement the M2’s strengths and weaknesses. To handle the rigours of Nürburgring driving, cooling upgrades were mainly in order, as well as an adequate braking system.
Crossing the English Channel via the Eurotunnel, Marcus entered the European mainland, first setting the M2’s wheels on the picturesque roads of France before making his way through Belgium, all en route to his ultimate destination, Germany.
