MOTORSPORT — A DISH BEST SERVED LIVE

Welcome to 2023, the age of convenience, where thanks to the good ol’ interweb we can be a spectator at almost any motorsport we desire, live, up close, and without the need to ever leave the lounge, or put pants on for that matter. Live streaming has become so normalised within our beloved sport that many now experience it solely from the couch, chips in hand, and a few cold beers at the ready. Are the days of heading down to the circuit or special stage becoming a thing of the past? I mean, why leave home when you can just experience it on the screen, right? WRONG! I know the couch is comfy and it is the easy option, but we are missing out on so much on offer by not experiencing it how it was meant to be experienced — live and in person!

Motorsport is allthe recipe for what makes us car lovers feel truly alive. Is this sounding familiar? It is no secret that nothing beats the smell of race fuel and hot chips wafting on the breeze while your eardrums reverberate to the sound of high-revving engines, watching cars get thrown around ribbons of tarmac or gravel. It simply doesn’t get any better than that, in my opinion. Now I know that the good ol’ interweb is just so much easier, but if you can be there in person, the experience from the couch just doesn’t cut it in comparison. Our expectations have been dulled down, thanks to technology and convenience, with the smell and great sound aspect having been removed from the equation almost totally. It’s a bit like Formula E — no noise, no smell, just a moving picture, and that’s just dull.
