It’s 16 Feb and entries have opened for Rapanats No. 5 — within a blink of an eye there is a full field of 50 cars! This is testament to the team that produces the Rapanats event year after year. The event was founded by a group of like-minded burnout enthusiasts in the Wairarapa who wanted to build an event that was as much a party as it was motorsport.
Cue in Jamie Connors, one of the country’s most entertaining burnout emcees, with a sound system fit for a warehouse rave party. With 50 limiter-bashing, booze-burning, gearbox-crunching, wall-smashing, garage-built, ear-bleeding burnout cars, just add a couple of food trucks and the only burnout pad in New Zealand featured in the official Summernats Burnout Masters game, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a burnout party!
