It doesn’t matter what cylinder kit, ignition system, clutch or gearbox are to be fitted into a Lambretta engine; the starting point of any build is a sound engine casing. This is the cornerstone of everything, but it’s often overlooked in terms of wear and tear. While much time will be spent establishing the amount of wear on the bore, piston, crank or bearings, the truth is that these parts are frequently overhauled. In contrast, the engine casing has most likely never had any attention paid to it since leaving the factory.
